Kay Saunders ?A dab of vanilla on a cotton ball will not only help get rid of odors, it will also create a subtle but pleasant fridge smell.
While baking soda is generally agreed upon to be the go-to for fridge smell removal, this alternate solution not only helps remove unpleasant fridge odors, but adds a light, clean scent to your refrigerator.
Soak a cotton ball in vanilla extract, then place the cotton ball inside an open-topped, small container such as a jelly jar or small glass tumbler. Put anywhere in the back of the fridge. When you notice you don't get a vanilla-y smell anymore upon opening the door, just take the old cotton ball out and replace with a new one.
The site also suggests that you can put a few drops of vanilla in the water you use to wash out your fridge, as well. Photo by nlian.
