BrightSource Energy, an Oakland-based thermal power plant developer, has raised more than $80 million in new equity funding. Return backers Alstom Power and VantagePoint Venture Partners co-led the round, and were joined by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, CalSTRS, DBL Investors, Goldman Sachs, Chevron Technology Ventures and BP Ventures. The company previously raised more than $360 million in VC funding, plus secured a $1.6 billion loan guarantee from the Department of Energy.
